Box 1
Tom Drake. Contains a letter written to Professor Cook in 1978 concerning his campaign for Lieutenant Governor.
Alabama Constitution Committee. Documents pertaining to the committee for Alabama constitutional revision which met in 1973. Materials include a bound report by the committee, three copies of the Proposed 1979 Constitution of the State of Alabama, and various correspondence between members on the topic of meeting dates.
Alabama Women and Minority Group Search Committee. File includes a list of female and minority law school graduates (1931-1979), a list of committee members, a copy of the charter for the Alabama Women and Minority Group Search Committee, and a letter from Howell Heflin commending Cook on her efforts.
Surveys to Aid Prospective Attorneys. Includes an article written by Professor Cook in 1979.
Tom Bevill Professorship. File contains a copy of the announcement of the Tom Bevill Professorship reception, pamphlets seeking contributions, and correspondence concerning plans for the position.
LS Self Study. File contains materials from a University of Alabama School of Law self-study program in 1984. Includes a copy of the survey and a memo concerning the study.
University of Alabama Law School Material. File contains miscellaneous materials including a copy of the bylaws of the Law School Alumni Association, a copy of its newsletter from February 1973, a photocopy of a University of Alabama annual examination from 1887, and an ABA questionnaire for the University.
Children’s Code. File contains various materials concerning the ABA Children’s Code Committee of 1979, including meeting correspondence, drafts of proposed acts, and minutes from two of the committee meetings.
The remaining files in box 1, and all of the files in box 2 contain student papers from Professor Cook’s sex discrimination seminar from 1986-1992, a file which includes undated components, and an independent study paper entitled, “The Child Support system: Statutory Objectives.” Topics of the sex discrimination seminar include, pregnancy leave, parental rights when dealing with illegitimate children, military discrimination, amateur sports, abortion notification, and single-sex organizations.
